Six bores supply water rich in minerals and calcium to the stock, while six large dams ensure adequate water supplies are on hand for both additional stock water and irrigation.

The property guarantees an annual supply of quality lucerne hay, which ensures cost-eff ectiveness for Stud clients, and quality feed for their mares and foals.

Burwood Stud caters for permanently-agisted mares and their offspring, as well as short-term visiting mares. Many of the permanent boarders are interstate-owned.

Highly respected veterinary surgeon Dr Francois Viljoen and his associates Dr Steve Rayner & Dr Glen Laws from Darling Downs Vets, are on hand at all times, not only for the care of mares and their foals, but also for their equine reproduction abilities.

Burwood Stud was established in 1982 by Noel and Christine Denning as a family-owned equine agistment and spelling complex.

The passage of time has seen Burwood Stud grow from an equine agistment and spelling complex to a standardbred and thoroughbred nursery of note. Burwood Stud is owned by Noel and Christine Denning, and their family, who established it back in 1982. In the intervening years, Burwood Stud has played host to a number of successful stallions in both spheres, and has built a strong, close client base, content to agist their mares and foals at the Darling Downs nursery. Burwood Stud has grown, size-wise, exponentially, over the years, so much so that it is widely-accepted as the leading standardbred Stud in Queensland, and one of the best-regarded in Australasia. Daniel and Jonathon Denning, Noel and Christine's only sons, have followed in their parents' footsteps, and with their families, have kept the Burwood Stud dream alive for the Denning clan. The Dennings are commercial breeders, with the entire process happening at Burwood Stud, from impregnation, through to foaling, and boast an imposing strike rate with horses they have sold, mostly as yearlings, through various auction sales. Burwood Stud, and the Denning family, are especially bywords of the Sunshine State harness racing industry, and incredibly have bred the past four winners of the esteemed Redcliffe Yearling Sale Two-Year-Old Classic, all of which were sold for little more than pocket change. These Classic Group winners were Cha Ching Chaching (2011), Couldntresist (2012), Designer Style (2013) and Mathilda Diventa (2014), while the 2015 winner Leos Best is by our resident millionaire sire Cammibest, and the 2016 winner, Heart Of Change, was raised on this property. Cha Ching Chaching, which became a member of the 'Hundred Grand Club,' sold for just $4000, while Designer Style changed hands for only $6000; the other bargain buys were half-brother and sister, Couldntresist ($3000) and Mathilda Diventa ($6000). Add to this, the likes of $4000 purchase, Group One juvenile champion and Group One Queensland Derby runner-up Wicked Style (1:55.7; $221,445) and the 2014 Addington (New Zealand) three-year-old winner on debut, Horace Greeley, who cost just $2000 and is trained by the champion horseman, Mark Purdon, who selected him from the Burwood Stud yearling sale draft.

Cammibest is a tried-and-true success story, both on the racetrack and in the breeding barn, where his list of winners is extensive, and still growing, from juveniles through to older Group performers, and includes the 1:50.7 Group One winner Leos Best. With progeny such as Australian Group-winning two-year-olds such as Changeoverme and Heart Of Change, supported by the 2017 New Zealand two-year-old Group One Jewels winner Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Changeover has proven himself as a sire of horses who excel at two, and keep on keeping on. Changeover is an exciting newcomer to the Burwood Stud stallion line-up. He was not only a $2million+ multiple Group One winner, and one of the best horses to ever look through a bridle in this part of the world, but this 'outcross' stallion is duplicating those deeds as a sire. Lanercost, a Group One-winning son of the mighty Courage Under Fire, is carrying on in the same vein as his illustrious sire, with his first starter being a sub-2:00 two-year-old winner in the 2016-'17 season at Albion Park. Burwood Stud's stallions are especially-selected for a discerning marketplace, and Stud principals are aware of the importance, in pacing especially, of providing stallion choices whose progeny 'come early and stay late.' This can be seen by the success of the Burwood Stud breed in young horse races, with no greater example than the annual Group event, the Redcliffe Two-Year-Old Sales Classic. It has come to be that many potential yearling purchasers make pre-sales inspections of the Burwood Stud stock in their natural environment, at home here.
